Dear Wirepas Customer,

We would like to give a you a heads-up about an important product transition coming next year. As part of our commitment to delivering secure, compliant and scalable connectivity solutions, Wirepas will end support for all the versions of the Wirepas Network Tool (WNT) and the Wirepas Positioning Engine (WPE) as of August 31, 2026. The affected products are listed below.

This decision is driven by the upcoming EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), expected to take effect in early 2027. The CRA introduces strict legal requirements for software security, lifecycle management and long-term maintenance. Because WNT and WPE rely on legacy backend components, we cannot ensure their long-term compliance under these new obligations. As compliance is essential to us, and as these requirements are legally binding, this unfortunately leaves us with no choice but to discontinue the products. Thank you for your understanding.

In parallel, we have developed Wirepas Network Management System (NMS) as the modern successor to WNT. NMS is built on secure, scalable, state-of-the-art components designed to meet CRA requirements and support the operational needs of large-scale deployments in the years ahead. 

Affected products

What does the End Of Support mean for the Wirepas product versions in question?

You can still use the products incorporating the aforementioned affected software versions. Still, Wirepas may not be able to provide support on the affected product versions after the effective date of End of Support. 

Migration options

Backend migration option for WNT is Wirepas Network Management System (NMS).

Wirepas will provide the full documentation of Wirepas Network Management System (NMS) and will be available to guide the transition from WNT to Wirepas NMS.

Wirepas will provide a positioning application note to assist customers with creating positioning-based solutions.
